Consulting Services
Leveraging cutting-edge technology to solve ecological challenges.
What I Offer
With a deep background in end-to-end system design, sensor integration, and data analysis, I provide consulting services for researchers, conservation groups, and technology firms. My expertise lies in architecting robust hardware and software ecosystems—from low-power embedded sensors to scalable data pipelines—designed to solve complex challenges in both the natural and built worlds.
Areas of Expertise
- Smart Collars & Biologgers: Design and development of custom tracking and monitoring devices for a variety of species.
- Distributed Sensor Networks: Creating and deploying sensor networks for large-scale environmental monitoring, such as acoustic monitoring for bee populations.
- Data Analysis & Machine Learning: Applying machine learning techniques to analyze sensor data and extract meaningful insights about animal behavior and ecology.
- Rapid Prototyping: Quickly developing and iterating on hardware and software prototypes to meet specific research needs.
Past Projects
Here are a few examples of projects I've worked on:
- Advanced Animal Collars: Designed, developed, and deployed custom smart collars to monitor the behavior and environments of diverse species, including hyenas, goats, cows, and dogs.
- Wearable Sensor Platforms: Led the development of "Airspecs," a smart eyewear device for collecting physiological and environmental data. This work involved the full product lifecycle, from initial concept to international manufacturing, including on-site collaboration with partners in Shenzhen.
- Acoustic Monitoring Systems: Engineered and deployed a distributed microphone system in Patagonia to measure the population dynamics of native and invasive bee populations through acoustic analysis.
- Wildfire Detection Networks: Created a low-power sensor network for early wildfire detection, blending hardware development with data-driven environmental monitoring.
- Space-Grade Hardware: Contributed to space exploration programs by developing and successfully sending ruggedized hardware into orbit.
